Side-Marker
Mod:
--
Step 1 --
First we need to mark the spot where we plan to drill. Do this on both
sides.

-- Step 2 --
Then we make a small hole with the drill. (This might be painful to some
of you, it was to me.) This will allow for bigger bits to make their way
inside and create a bigger opening.

-- Step 3 --
Here is the final shot of the opening created by the drill. It is approximatly
the size of a quarter. Let me point out i did this at a shop because i
dont personaly own drill bits that big.

-- Step 4 --
I next used a rope to string accross where the cable would lay. This makes
it easier to lay down the wireing since all i have to do is attach the
end of the wire onto the rope and pull.
-- Step 5 --
I then spliced the Turn-Signal wires and attached the Side Marker wires
approprietly to the spliced Turn-Signal wiress on each side. Note: For
protection against the elements i taped the entire strand of the wires
coming from the side makers using electrical tape. This created a type
of seal for the wires to keep them dry.

-- Step 6 --
Finally I checked that the Side Markers actually blinked with the Turn
Signals and they did. So all there is left to do is drill the holes where
the bits go and attach the clear cover over the light. THE END.

-- Notes To Keep
In Mind --
There are many types of side markers out there. Try to keep in mind, when
purchasing a pair, how complex is the shape of the side marker because
that is the shape you will have to cut on your 4Runner. In my case i bough
some real inexpensive side markers that cost only a few bucks. The upside
was that it only required a circular shape the size of a quarter to get
them to fit. The downside was because they were inexpensive the quality
is also not so good. After 6 months of using them I found myself ordering
another pair because moister was able to sip into the clear cover and
then let dry. This left and ugly yellow residue. Nonetheless, the final
look, no matter what brand you get, makes your 4Runner looking unique.
Good Luck!
